The last week was a great one...[No sarcasm intended :p]
It was a week dedicated for rain..It was raining cats and dogs(My long term wish came true-to use the phrase :P)Its more than a week since I shifted to my new rental house, which I liked instantly for its fresh air and lot of free space, compared to the hostel I lived earlier, irrespect of of the 25 minutes walk and 15 minutes bus travel to my office. Now my mom wanted to have a look of my abode, you know parents, they always make their level of security checks, that too when its their daughter staying away from them.
So it ended up that I make my place look better, you know how a bachelor's(spinster's)room is!But when it rained the entire area around my house was flooded, believe me, when I tell flooded it doesn't mean just the usual water logged Chennai, there was actually a river running at my gate.Thank God I lived in the first floor.
So as you can imagine I, who do not have a two wheeler had to pick up my mom and literally swim and drop her at my place.Woof! That was a day!
The next day morning I had to make a fight to drop her back at the bus stand.I was jumping all over the little stones that peeped up above the water after one no-rain day.At a turning, that was the spot of fight.I had to jump from one stone to a pavement of somebody's house, there the villain stood.
A dog!As the place was completely surrounded by water and the gate of the house closed,If the dog doesnt make a move I cannot continue my journey. So there I was, making negotiations with a person who was in no way competent with my skills.,can you beat it A Dog!I started the the conversation in Tamil..
Me: Move!
(I have heard dogs are the most domesticated animals in the world, they are supposed to understand tamil..that too, being a street dog I cant expect him to know english and thats why I preferred Tamil)
Mr Dog: *Stare*
(Not that I expect him to talk back, but he could atleast move, now am not sure if its a he/she)
Me:Please Move..
(May be he expected a bit of respect :P)
Mr Dog:*a fiercer stare*
(Did I offend him or something, now I think I went wrong in my theory somewhere.
And the discussion was getting a bit serious)
Thats when my mom noticed I was talking to someone at the corner.
Mom:What, now you have started to talk with dogs also..?Chennai has spoiled you..Cant you just chase it away?
Now, my mom and Mr Dog agreed into a mutual pact and both started walking away.
Me:Ma wait..wait..
I joined and we 3 left for the bus stop together.
I dont know how she finds Chennai as the reason for whatever I do..maybe she should correct herself, else Chennai will soon die of the burden:P)
The Day ended well..and the rain stopped and now my house is accessible..:)
